unscripted corner: let’s catch up! <3

This past Saturday, we had our FIRST event in New York City with No Nazar Cafe in LES and it was so so fun to kick off a new event series. Genuinely so exciting to see how many of you showed up and had a time with our DJ, drinks, and making new friends.

In case you missed it, here’s a sneak peak on how it went… there’s definitely going to be MANY more where that came from ;)

What I learned from this first event and what the vision is going forward for Brown Girl Unscripted

Honestly, what I’ve realized is we need more spaces for women- especially women of color- to connect, make friends, and actually have each other’s backs. That’s been a huge vibe of the podcast too. I want it to be a spot where we can chat with women killing it in their industries, hype ourselves up, and support each other through the highs and lows. Instead of seeing each other as competition (which just feeds insecurities and makes us feel alone), imagine if we were just… nicer to each other and saw other women as allies, not threats. Wouldn’t that make life so much easier?

• Future events will have…

  • More yummy coffee + matcha

  • Sponsored brands included in gift bags for each guest

  • Activities (art, something career related, more structured)

  • Potential live podcast recording with a guest (will share updates v soon)

  • Venues: restaurants, cafe’s, and offices of various tech companies

  • Bringing in companies to provide more career resources for y’all
